Us retired folk on the moon were inspired by those shooting stars wizzZZzzing by. We gathered in a large group and made this poem, with each resident making their wish. Leave any wishes you have in the comments young ones.
Wish From a Star, From Not So Far:
Bright ball of light in flight.
Spoke in star dust to our moon,
“See you soon" and then "watch me zoom.”
Once seen, never forgotten,
Joyfulling skidding past Saturn.
We all watch in slow motion,
Making wishes in admiration:
Karl is content, no need for a wish,
Some may say it’s an opportunity missed.
Tina and Peter long for the countryside,
an earthly, peaceful place to reside.
Yet Rita yearns for a city,
Money in hands, shops, Paris is pretty.
Harry’s one wish is simple,
Lancing by the sea, with all of the family.
Nevermind just one star, Ivy needs a thousand,
Glittering from a ball in disco land.
Jean wishes to join all the crew,
Friends, family as a shiny orb in the blue.
Lily loves the sun, but more so her own son,
her husband and when breakfast has just begun.
Desmond seeks simple living, free from pain
And good health for everyone else, all the same.
Marge would like a field full of dogs,
Annette yelped, “me too” and they leapt like frogs.
Jane’s one wish, she let fly away,
Because with these smiling faces,
Is where she hopes to stay.
May caught the star and placed it in her pocket,
Winking to the rest, “this life, this love, we shan’t forget it.”
