The Comoonity: a History
By 1972, Britain had stripped the Blue Streak and Black arrow projects of all funding, marking the end of Britain’s space fun-run for the foreseeable future.
Under the nose of the project directors, senior scientists teamed up with a cabal of top government purse-string holders, to covertly dispose of Britain’s space fleet, through an ambitious moon colony project. Key Conspirator and Chair of Arts Council England, Lord Gowry, insisted that should they be discovered, the colony must align with the goals of the Council. This is how Britain’s first moon Colony, turned into a moon community, with a focus on creating a vibrant culture all of its own.
A secret kept from Earth’s governments, the moon community (affectionately dubbed ‘The Comoonity’), utilized cutting edge architecture of the time to create a self-sufficient moon complex, stretching for several stories above the moon’s surface, and several dozen below.
After the miraculous success of the moon’s first tenants, the Comoonity is now home to its first generation of Moon citizens, who have never set foot on earth. Despite this, our brave new cohort strive to make Britain proud, even if their efforts are never discovered.
